The festival
Vinayaka Chavithi, on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi, welcomes Ganapati into homes with clay idols, palavelli canopies, and twenty-one kinds of patri (leaves). Undrallu and kudumulu are offered, and the story of the moon's curse is read.
At Kāmya
Ganapati is Gau-priya too: the day's first offering traditionally goes to the cow. Families visiting Kāmya on Chavithi offer the herd fresh green fodder as their patri.
